Volunteering at Town

01 Jun 2020 in News

Working as a volunteer at a football club is so rewarding, especially when you get to see the fruits of your time and labour in full bloom. It gives you a chance to meet new people, hone your skills for a future career or simply to fill your time striving towards a common goal.

The people behind the scenes hold just as much significance as those who perform on the pitch and when everyone works in tandem, it really is a wonderful environment to be a part of.

Our photographer, Bill Shepherd, took some time to tell us about his experience as a volunteer.

“I joined Wythenshawe Town when I got a call from Kins asking me… no! Begging me to come and join him and Dan after working with them at East Manchester.

“I enjoy photography and football and thought why not combine the two. The club is going places and I wanted to be a part of that journey.

“There’s a great set of lads at the club and the banter is great. There’s some real characters and the team spirit is fantastic. You only need to look how hard they graft to turn some results around.

“I have missed not going to Ericstan Park during lockdown and look forward to the season kicking off again soon. I try to get to as many away games as well. I hope the lads like the photos I take, it’s rewarding to see them retweeted or used in their social outlets.

“It’s a job I enjoy doing in all weathers - freezing finger tips in winter, equipment failing because the cameras got wet. It’s all part and parcel of being a volunteer! Good luck to WTFC and everyone involved when we go again!”

Wythenshawe Town’s stock has been rising rapidly and will continue to do so in the coming season but we need your help to make that possible!

The roles that we are looking to fill include:

·      Turnstile operatives

·      Ground maintenance staff

·      PA announcer

·      Programme sellers

·      Commercial staff

·      Promotions staff

·      Programme contributors

·      Catering staff

·      General cleaning duties

If you or anyone else you know are interested in becoming a volunteer for this club, please contact us via Direct Messages on our social media outlets or email media@wythenshawetownfc.co.uk.
